  • Particles in water

I just replaced the water filter in my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator with a Kenmore filter. After drawing out the required amount of water from the new filter, I can still see particles floating in the water. They look like small instant mashed potato flakes. I have already exchanged the filter for a new one so that was not the problem. Could this be sediment in the lines or internal tank? Is is harmful? How do I get rid of it? The refrigerator is 6 years old.

    Thanks

    Water Filter

Do you have the same particles in your unfiltered water directly from the tap? How long did you flush the filter for after installation?

      Tap ok

No, there are no particals in water directly from the tap. Also, I checked the lines for kinks or leaks and can not find any.

        Flushed lines

I have also drawn more than twice the required amount of water since installing the new filter.

          Water Line

Since you are seeing the sediment only from your refrigerator it could be the water line in the fridge after the filter that is causing the problem. Do you also have the same problem with your ice cubes? If you don't see them when they are frozen, take some and place in a glass to let them melt. Normally when refrigerator water filters leak particles into your water, it is carbon which is black and leaves a bitter taste. This does not sound like your problem though.
