Trouble with Culligan RO

Hello, my RO system had been working fine for the 5+ years we've owned it. I changed the filters regularly and changed the membrane last Fall. A couple of months ago the problem started--the RO faucet, when turned on of course, would give water at normal pressure, then suddenly stop. If left open, the faucet would then trickle ever so slowly for a few minutes. The tank is full, no kinks in any of the tubes. My ice maker still gives ice, though maybe not quite at the normal rate and cubes are normal size.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

If there is water in the tank but it doesn't deliver it then check the tank. It may be waterlogged...meaning the bladder is bad and the tank needs to be replaced. A good opportunity to upgrade to a better unit if you have the funds and this is indeed the problem. Anyway, open the faucet and wait til the water stops. Then, go to the tank and turn the tank valve off if there is one (usually there is one right on the valve where the tubing connects to the tank). If possible, roll the tank around or shake it and listen for sloshing and/or feel the weight of it. If it is full of water then the bladders has failed. It's possible (but unlikely) that it just needs air pumped into it but generally if it acts as you described then there is not much hope for that. Adding air entails draining the tank completely and then checking the pressure in it. It should be in the area of 5 to 8 pounds depending on how far it is from the faucet. Add air accordingly with a bike pump. If it holds pressure for an amount of time (check it again in an hour) then it should be good to go. If not, then get rid of it and get a new tank or new system.

Thanks so much for the reply and the info. Yep, tank is full and heavy as well as sloshing water. Guess it's time to upgrade to a larger tank too.

actually, culligan usually gives a generous warranty on the tank. call in to you local branch and tell them you believe you tank is bad and ask what the charge is.

before doing so, try and air up the tank with an air compressor or bike pump to about 20 psi and see if water comes out. is tank is super heavy, and nothing comes out bladder may have developed a pin hole leak.

Wound up getting a newer, larger tank made by Amtrol. What a difference. Never had such a nice flow rate and certainly could never get this much pure water from that itsy bitsy Culligane tank.
