  • GE Profile RO sanitization leak issue on the membrane position

Hi, we bought a house that has a PNRQ20FWW RO system. The system was not in use when we bought the house so for all I know it hasn't been used for a couple of years. The system was not working so I changed the membrane and the 2 filters and the system now is generating water fine. However the RO light keeps blinking amber after 4-5 full tank full. I did not sanitize the system at the time that I changed the filters and the membrane so that could be the reason. So I ordered a sanitation kit with 3 sanitation canisters to try and sanitize the system. However when I installed all 3 and turn on the water supply the sanitation canister installed in the middle (the membrane location) leaks like crazy. Again, the membrane filter does not leak. But the sanitation canister does leak like crazy. Since the sanitation canisters installed in the 2 filter positions do not leak I figured I'd swap them to make sure that it wasn't the canister's fault. But no matter which canister I put in the middle position it leaks like crazy. I tried putting the filters and membrane back to make sure the system was still working fine and it does. So the leak happens only when the sanitation canisters are installed and only on the middle one (the membrane spot). So any ideas what could be causing that? Thanks.

Since I have no answer/reply from 41 views of the question I asked I thought I'd ask it a different way. Assuming nothing is wrong with the sanitization canisters (and that is a good assumption as the membrane sanitization canister does not leak when placed in any of the 2 filter positions, just on the membrane position), a better question would be what pluged up tube of the RO unit would cause a huge leak from the membrane sanitization canister to the point that no water makes it to the 3rd canister in the filter position?? Please remember that the actual membrane filter does NOT leak and the system generates RO water, unfortunately with the amber light blinking and about 40 PPS on a TDS meter. I think we need some plumber RO professionals here that have run into this trouble before. Many thanks.
