I installed an RO system recently, 5 stage I believe 1/4 tubing. After hooking it up I noticed the tank didn't hold a lot of water and it constantly sounded like water was draining. So I looked up the issue and it said my city water pressure is probably low. So I installed a pressure gauge and checked and sure enough only 20 PSI coming into the system when it recommended 40 PSI. So I bought a RO water pump and pressure shut off switch. I connected the shut off switch between the Tank and RO system and I connected the pump from the city water line to the RO system. The pressure shut off switch is set to shut off the pump at 60 PSI, however it never reaches 60 PSI. When the water pressure in the line between the tank and the RO system reaches approx 40 PSI it starts making this loud vibrating/grunting noise caused from.... a lot of vibrating from the RO systems high/low shut off valve. So to run an experiment I just pulled the plug on the pump. Noise stops, great but the PSI in the line between the Tank and RO system starts to drop which leads me to believe the tank is draining and the Shut Off Valve is not stopping the flow of water out the drainage line. I would also like to add no matter how long I leave the pump the pressure never goes above 40 PSI in the line between the Tank and RO system. Tank meaning the water storage Tank. I have even shut off the Tank and just let the pump run to see if the pressure would build up over 40 PSI so the switch would trigger and shut the pump off and it never does, just vibrates and grunts more violently and the pressure never goes any higher.
