  • Kinetico VX Deluxe RO membrane change

After 12 years my Quick Flo black plastic tank failed. I bought a standard white tank and ran the hoses to the appropriate ports; changed pre and post filters and decided to replace the RO center module filter. Unsnapped the 2 side clips, remove the canister and discovered I could not unscrew the top of the canister because there is nothing to grip it with. My feeling is that it would take 2 tools, one a plastic wrench to slide under the bottom of the canister and some sort of device to secure the top. Can anyone tell me if my feeling is correct?

did you ever get help with that membrane swap? I have the same system and after the last filter replacement , it has started dumping all the water into the drain and not into the holding tank. AIM wants 1500 dollars to replace the whole systems and I cant believe it is unable to be repaired

Yes, it takes two special tools designed to hold on to the top and one to grip the bottom. So you are right. I have used the handles of a pair of channel locks carefull placed at the top and turn the membrane sump off that way. It may take two people so the grip is good. Sometimes people have sent me their housing for me to change membrane. If you change it from a blue to a white membrane, you have to shorten the drain flow capillary to about 1 1/2" because the blue membrane is a 25gpd and the white is a 75gpd so the drain flow must change as well. The cut must be made with a razor knife at an angle and absolutely no burrs on the end

I started with a 75 gpd and had it replaced with a 75 gpd but this didn't stop the high waste water flow. The RO module has a control valve which was not closing when the tank filled completely. I had to call the company and they replaced both the membrane and valve. Thanks for your reply.
