Hello,.. I have a Kinetico model # DWS PLUS DELUXE VX01 RO system installed in my basement that we had installed about 8 years ago and it was worked very well up until the last time I changed the filters, the system has little water coming out of the faucet. I had a AIM service tech look and he said it is dumping the water right into the drain. I pulled the line out myself and got a shower so yes it is for sure dumping the water straight into the drain. he said this was a common problem and it can not be repaired this unit has been discontinued there are no part available to fix it and gave an estimate of 1500 dollars for a k5 system upgrade. All this after I spent over 100 dollars for new filters. I don't have the 1500 to replace it and cant believe there is no fix for it. Is this a common problem and is there any trouble shooting flow chart of some sort to diagnose the problem and then a repair procedure out there some where? I read something about it being a problem with the black fill tank on the floor air locked or something, and others say its the membrane how do you know what is the problem? should I throw it in the trash and buy one of them OS systems at Lowe's for 300 dollars and keep the change?

All hope is not lost. When you changed filters, you did displace the air in them before activating them and the air caused an airlock in the QuickFlow tank. Yes, there is a replacement part of the manifold in the tank but dealers would rather sell you a new part. I can try and get a part number for you.
Or, you can get rid of the tank and get an air-charged tank. A standard air tank can be added by plugging ports 1, 2 and 3 in the manifold on the RO using 1/4" plugs. This will give you the pressure and volume of any standard RO system. The replacement tank can be any size but a 3-gallon tank should be the minimum.
Of course dealers KNOW this problem and prefer you to buy a new system. The K5 has eliminated this engineering pitfall but you can still use yours. I convert these all the time.

airlock in the QuickFlow tank
is there detailed instructions and a parts list available? I have zero experience with water systems so I greatly appreciate any help. In replacing the tank on the floor would I still need to figure out how to fix the membrane? The membrane looks sealed it only has a brass Allen screw in the bottom the repair man told me it takes special tools to open.thank you for the reply.Originally posted by Andy CWS View PostAll hope is not lost.
