Under Sink Sodium/Salt Filter

Would like to know if there is under sink filter for high PPM sodium/salt in our well water. One big well supplies over one hundred homes in our area. No other problems with the water other than sodium.

Hi Dave,

If sodium is your problem you'll need a Reverse Osmosis system to take it out since it's actually dissolved into your water. We currently sell 2 RO systems which I've provided links to below.

You didn't mention it here, but if you have a sediment problem, which is common with most wells, I would suggest putting in a whole house filter such as the AP101T if you get the RO system. Having this whole house filter will extend the life of the RO system. (RO filters are more expensive to replace than whole house filters )

"Problems" of course, is relative. If you have well water without specific treatment and you arere looking to take out only sodium, then the chances are you have numerous other problems. An RO membrane loves sodium but hates calcium and other hardness minerals/salts.

Sodium is water soluable and will more easily wash off the membrane. Iron, calcium, manganese, etc., will accummulate on the membrane and will eventually destroy it requiring replacement and all the associated costs and frustrations at having poorer water quality.

Get a complete water analysis and let us know what the results are. Also, make clear what water treatmewnt is provided by the community source. Chlorination, filtration, pH adjustments, etc.
