  • Electrostatic Precipitator

I have a 14 year old Hague Watermax Filter (not a softener) on the output of the Hague I have an in-line Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) unit. When I bought it I was told it would keep my plumbing clean and energize the water. I can't say if it did or not.

The Hague has been a great unit. I am having it upgraded to the new electronics and the media replaced. My question is with the ESP unit. I am debating where to take it out or leave it in. The warranty on it is 10 years. It's been installed for 14 years. I am wondering if it is still working. It is still buzzing like it always has.

The company I bought it from is out of business and it appears that the manufacturer is also out of business.

Do anyone have any experience with these ESP units? Any coments/recommendations ?

    Thanks

Would like to know what kind of media was used in the Hague water Max unit.

One thing that you could try for a month or two is to take the Electrastatic off and see if there is any change.

The Electrostatic Precipitator never worked. They and others like them are a long list of scams.

My hague filter has the following:

        Compartment 1 - Ultra Fil
        Compartment 2 - KDF
        Compartment 3 - Carbon (top)
        layer of KDF on bottom.

So you will be replacing the carbon?

Is the KDF number 55 or 85?

All the media is going to be replaced. The old stuff is 13 yrs old. It's still filtering out the chlorine though. KDF 55. I am on city water.

You should not have to replace the KDF 55, some acid wash and it should be good to go.
City water, house whole and you use what 90k gallons per year?
Was running a bottling plant and we used 60k every 3 days ... and every 3 years an acid wash on the kdf 55 and we where good to go for another 3 years.
              Look up the kdf media.
Now the carbon should be replaced, but the rest? some one is after more of your money than needed.

No, my choice. I told them what I wanted.

Back to the ESP. So the ESP unit doesn't remove scaling from the plumbing?

It does nothing but take money from your pocket.
