Filter order

Good Afternoon,

I recently purchased the Big Blue triple filter housing with the following filters:
Pentek NCP-20BB 20" Big Blue Water Filter
Pentek DGD-7525-20 Dual Gradient Density Filter
Pentek RFFE20-BB Radial Flow Iron Reduction Filter
for use as a whole house system for our well water.
The spec sheet for the iron reduction filter states; "For best results, pre-sediment and post-carbon treatment is recommended." Therefore, I plan on installing the dual gradient filter followed by the iron reduction filter and finally the ncp carbon impregnated filter. Is this the recommended order?

It is always difficult to recommend a water treatment system without knowing what water issues are being addressed. Do you have any water test results?

The filter combination that you are suggesting may or may not be adequate for proper treatment. If your iron is high, then any 'iron reducing' filter will be short lived and may actually cause additional water problems.

Let us know what your test results are and we can make better recommendations.
