aquasana rhino ant good?

I'm on municipal city water and I'm looking for a very good whole house water filtration system, one that removes cholrine as well as flouride and all the other sediments, cysts, etc, etc...

I saw the Aquasana Rhino online and I'm considering it. What I like about it is the main filter only needs replacing every 3 years.

Can anyone confirm that this is a good system? Or recommend a better one? I'm open to other models and willing to spend 1k to 2 k for a good quality system.

The Rhino is actually a pretty good unit for city water. The only down side is that they are neither rebuildable not refillable; you need to basically buy the whole unit again. It may take a few years but that is the set up for them to maintain a customer base residual.

The KDF is very effective at reducing chlorine and the carbon for additional chlorine reduction and clarity, taste and odor improvement. A prefilter is a must as there is no backwashing in the event of a water main rupture or some other water problem.

There will be some pressure loss but not significant. It would be great before a water softener and/or a reverse osmosis.

These are available at different locations, including eBay so pricing and shipping can be determined.

What Imeant by KDF is that that is one of the filter media in the Rhino. Is made up of copper and zinc granuals that creat an environment for reducing the effects of chlorine and work much longer than carbon, the industry's standard.

Following the KDF are two types of carbon. Since the KDF is reducing chlorine significantly, the carbon media has a chance to do all the other functions for a longer time.

This unit will not soften the water and there are many positve features to having soft water that the Rhino cannot do. The Rhino followed by a softener would complete the whole house arrangement. I would suggest an RO for theat final polishing for all consumption purposes.

Oh..ok. Thanks for clarifying. I am also considering that Pelican PSE1800 system that does the water softening to. Does that one utilize a KDF filter?
You mentioned an RO. What is that?

rhino pricing

In regards to Andy CWS comment about the Rhino pricing. Aquasana strictly enforces their MAP pricing (Minimum Advertised Price) so anywhere you go to purchase this unit they should be the same price. Last month they were running a special but that special is over so pricing is back up to normal. I would beware of sellers on Ebay or other auction houses selling the unit for any less as this may not be the original manufacturer's unit or include any warranty information.

I agree with Roxanne that whenever you buy items away from manufacturers' officially sponsored locations, you take the risk of not being totally satisfied with service and warranties.

So many people have been dissatisfied with products bought on line in an attempt to save money on the initial costs but later finding out that costs go up due to poor quality or lack or availability.

I bought this Aquasana whole house water filter about a year ago and have really liked it. It takes out all of the chemical taste and smell I had from being on city water, and has made my water feel so much softer when I bathe. The system is really easy to use and comes out to cost way less than I was spending replacing filters every few months on my other filters. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

It is a very simple but overpriced filter. They sell for $999.00 and the replacement after three years is $799.00.

A local or online water treatment dealer could sell the the same size or larger filter with basically the same media for less than half the price including shipping.

It wouldn't be "certified" as they say their's is but then I spent 20 minutes looking all over their site for the certification and couldn't find it. That included the manufacturer's site. I don't know if it will remove fluoride but do you really have to treat all the water in the house to remove it?

Why not speak with Roxanne and see what she can offer for either POE or drinking and cooking water filtration?

I am glad you are happy with your system. I am not sure how your water 'feels' softer but if it pleases you and satisifies your demands, than that is good.

Yea I am confused about that as well. From what I understand a water filter system doesn't "soften" water.
