I live in North Texas, I have a private water well for household use and irrigation of about 2 Acres and no date on drilling or depth (previous owner deceased) of well. The water treatment sales people are sometimes not knowledgeable. I have talked to quite a few (about 7) and there first response is I need a water softener and they have not even looked at the test results. And if that is what I need so be it. I do have an “Iron Filtration System” pre pressure tank (was with the place when I bought it).
I am trying to figure out what type of device, filter, or system I need. My objectives is to have clean healthy water for household use and good water for gardening. From my nonprofessional view, I know pH and/or sodium is one of or my only problem (form a gardening standpoint).
Here are the results from two different test:
Sodium 240 mg/L
Alkalinity as CaCO3 350 ml/L
Bicarbonate Alkalinity as CaCO3 260 mg/L
Carbonate Alkalinity as CaCO3 90 mg/L
Hydroxide Alkalinity as CaCO3 ND
Phenolphthalein Alkalinity as
CaCO3 45 mg/L
Total Dissolved Solids 500 mg/L
Chloride 12 mg/L
pH 9.05 pH Units
Another test:
Alkalinity (Phenol) 10 mg/L
Alkalinity (Total) 310 mg/L
Bicarbonate 310 mg/L
Calcium 3.2 mg/L
Carbonate 20 mg/L
Chloride 5 mg/L
Copper 0.03 mg/L
Fluoride 0.11 mg/L
Hardness 8 mg/L
Iron 0.02 mg/L
Lead less than 2 mg/L
Magnesium 1.16 mg/L
Nitrate 0.3 mg/L
pH 9.018
Sodium 175 mg/L
Sulfate 54 mg/L
Total Solids 731 mg/L
Any input, suggestions, advice on what to do, equipment or brand of equipment to look at would be MUCH appreciated. I am pulling what hair I have left out trying to figure out what to do. I do not want to say money is no object but I will spend what is necessary if it will fix the problem. I do plan to live here forever. Therefore, I want to keep in mind maintaince and repairs.
