  • system to remove iron bacteria from municipal water

We have municipal water, not well, but have an iron bacteria problem. We've complained many times over the years, as have the neighbors, but are just told that the water is chlorinated and tests fine at the facility. We have a sediment filter and water softener. Our iron levels always test very low. I have searched for a way to treat for iron bacteria but it always assumes that you already have a well system. Is there a filtration or treatment system that we can put on our house before the sediment filter that will help curb the problem?
    Thanks!

Ultraviolet filter systems are effective at disinfecting your water from micro-organisms including bacteria, viruses and the chlorine resistant parasite Cryptosporidium.

You would want to install a UV filter last after all other pretreatment has been applied to increase its ability to disinfect the water.

I use Aries brand 20" x 4.5" kdf85 filters, after my sediment filter, and have no problems. Take a look at kdf 85 and kdf55 filters and I think this may solve your problem. "After" because the Aries filters are 5 microns filtration.
