Hi. My home has an AquaPure SST2HB whole house filter (double height -- uses two standard-size filters). Up until now, I have been using two AP110 cartridges. These are for dirt/rust/sediment. My local plumber says I should also use an AP117 for taste/chlorine removal. The problem is, when I tried an AP110 and AP117 together, the height was too tall and I couldn't tighten the filter collar.
They DO work together if I remove the centering rod (which apparently adds a bit of height with its bottom base). That's currently how I have the two filters working, but I'm uncomfortable not using the centering rod. (Don't know if it's really needed).
Can someone advise me as to the best way to proceed? I would like both sediment AND taste filtering. Thanks very much.
